When HD8 Life met HDHR Services over coffee… and realised we'd already crossed paths before!
When Gayle from HDHR walked through the door at Joys Coffee House in Kirkburton, there was one of those "I know your face" moments. And, it turns out she'd been at a Pic-a-lily Floristry Christmas wreath workshop a couple of years back – one that HD8 Life had filmed and collaborated on. (We genuinely love it when ‘new’ faces become familiar faces).
Gayle has recently set up HDHR Services, an HR consultancy based in Lepton, offering HR support in Huddersfield and beyond.
This HD8 Lifer has worked in many different sized organisations in my time, and here's the thing about HR: a lot of small businesses either avoid it until something goes wrong, or assume it's simply not for them. Gayle's approach flips that on its head. She works with SMEs to get things right from the start, supporting the people and protecting the business, both sides of the equation, fairly. That framing matters a great deal.

With a background rooted in transport and engineering - highly operational, people-heavy environments where the stakes are real - she brings practical, grounded support that works in the real world, not just on paper. No overcomplicating things, no jargon, just calm and clear guidance from someone who's spent her career making the hard calls alongside business owners.
If you're a small or medium-sized business in HD8 and beyond and you've ever thought we probably need to sort our HR out, Gayle's your person. She offers a free consultation, so there's genuinely nothing to lose by starting the conversation.
Gayle loves life in HD8 because of the small village feel but with larger facilities nearby when needed, the community spirit and the abundance of green spaces to enjoy.
She also gave a shout out to some of her local faves: Joy's, Pic-a-Lily Floristry, Denroyd Farm, and Bottle & Co - Denby Dale.
Thanks for inviting us for a chat, Gayle, and for telling us all about what you're building. Wishing HDHR Services all the best
